Those Sneaky Sneakers!

As reported in SF Gate, shoes probably have the largest environmental impact of any of our apparel choices. The making of shoes involves

a number of manufactured materials to make up their various layers, including super-toxic glues to hold them together, and chemical dyes and hardware (not to mention the labor required for putting all of that together)….

The most-dicarded shoe is — unsurprisingly — sneakers.

Before buying that new pair of sneakers, think about the environmental impact and whether you really need a new pair. If you do, check out your local goodwill or consignment stores — people give away nearly new items all the time.
