I found a pile of USPS envelopes to be used for priority mail — and when I say “pile” I mean hundreds of them — in the basement of my building ready to be thrown away (not even recycled!).
I scooped them up and lugged them home with me, then brought them to the local post office. The woman working there was thankful and as appalled as I am by the waste. She said that in China they charge for everything at the post office, even forms. The charges are low, but enough to stop people from flippantly taking and wasting.
I just wish our post office would charge even a nickle for each envelope — I doubt we would ever find a pile at that price on the basement floor.
Please think before you take things…even if they are free. Take only what you need and use what you take. Thanks!
