Keep Plastics Out of the Microwave

The eco-apartment has a microwave, a new appliance for my family. As microwave newbies, our first lesson was not to use metal foil in it. Ok, got that. The next lesson should be not to use any plastics in it. When heated, plastics leach into your food. As reported on thedailygreen, even so-called microwave-safe plastic containers release “toxic doses” of Bisphenol A when heated in a microwave.  To be safe, always use glass or ceramic dishes in the microwave — never plastic.

Plus, for an added green benefit we need to get away from plastics in general, so this is a great reason to further cut down on their use in your kitchen.
