A friend just asked me if she could borrow a fancy dress I had bought a few years ago (at a thrift store!) because she has a dressy event to attend and didn’t want to buy something new for one time only. Of course I agreed and was so excited — this is what we need to do for one-time or infrequently-used items. I borrowed a baby bassinette from a friend to use for just three months and have borrowed countless items from my mother over the years. Borrowing is ecologically sound as well as community building.
Next time you need something for the short-term, consider asking a friend or family member if you can borrow it. You will save both financial and physical resources.
